Happy Holidays!! I have had a busy fall so far. So much so I haven't had time or rather taken the time to update my blog.
I am publishing an email newsletter that comes out every 3-4 months. If you would like to receive it please send your email address with the note that you would like to receive the newsletter to art@gallerymarilee.com.
I have been creating terra cotta horses and painting portraits. I am still painting the miniatures too. I will be posting some on ebay soon.

I have opened a new online shop www.cafepress.com/gallerymarilee. Would you believe that someone else used my name? But gallerymarilee is probably better since I have that as my website. In this new shop I am putting the images of my oil paintings on products such as: journals, mouse pads, clothing, keepsake box, etc. The prices are reasonable and the quality is good. I have ordered some items to see and I have been name? But gallerymarilee is probably better since I have that as my website. I took a group of people into Canyon de Chelly,AZ in Oct . We went in by horseback and painted all week. It was a great trip. I brought back a stray dog that wandered into our campsite. She had 9 puppies 2 weeks later! They are beautiful and healthy. They are 6 weeks old and 3 are adopted and one is my daughters. We have 5 more to go!
I am teaching a sculpture workshop Jan 26 at the Artists' Studios in South Coast Plaza Village. If you are interested let me know.
Time to go now.

Hello!! I have now posted the Where's my foot? painting on ebay. You can find it under miniatures, self representing artists, or marystock. I hope you will take the time to look for it.

I am offering sculpting classes on Thursdays, please contact me if you are interested and live in the area.

I have been busy doing some more paintings. I have been looking at all the pictures I have of children. I am finding a wealth of ideas from them.

I am also working on an online store offering handmade items: jewelry, ceramics, glasswork, crocheted items, etc. I am getting ready to launch it hopefully next week. It is artisanfaire.biz.
Next time I will have a new painting for you to see.

Children Paintings

Hello, I have been really remiss in posting here. Life has been having its usual happenings and I have not taken the time to post. I have started an email newsletter and would like to send it to you. If you would like to receive one just give me your email in the comment section.

I am still doing the horse series, but have started a new one with children invarious activities. These are mini oil paintings of actually my grandchildren. Like most grandparents I receive a ton of photos from their mothers and aunt. Recently I was looking at them and decided to try painting them on small canvases. Some artists are painting on small canvases and each day and calling them 'A Painting A Day'. Well you see how I can't keep a journal daily! So I am doing them when I have a moment. I found this is really relaxing.

I am going to sell these on ebay. I haven't put the first one up yet but will in the next few days. This is the first one called Where's my foot? It is one of them burying his foot in the sand at the beach.

The painting is on a wrap around canvas 4"x4". It does not need a frame as the the canvas is wrapped around the stretcher bars and has been painted.
Thanks for visiting my blog and viewing my new work.

Plein Air Paintings

I guess keeping up with a blog is more difficult than I thought when I started! So much happens that I get caught up in it and forget to blog.

I have started a newsletter and published my first issue today. Well I tried to send it out on Sat. but the type caused a problem - no one could read it! So I redid it and it is out on the email waves now. If people want to subscribe they need to go to www.fineartstudioonline.com/marileestockman and click on newsletter to subscribe.

I thought you might want to see one of my paintings. They are plein air - meaning they are done outdoors in about 3 hour time. Usually I finish them off in the studio. I have spent so much time on my sculpture that I haven't done too much painting of late. But I will show you what I have.

This was painted in Palm Springs. My friend Marie and I

were there for a painting trip with a group we belong to, but

most of them had gone elsewhere when we got there so

we found this scene off of a parking lot. Well you paint

where you see something. It is called 'Desert Beauty'.

This is called 'Garden Entrance'. It was painted in Santa Ana, CA of a historic house. We did a paint out on this property in honor of the owners who have been very supportive of our gallery.

This all for now. I hope you have enjoyed my work.

Terra cotta Horses

Hello! Wow time flies! I am showing you the new terra cotta sculptures I am working on. I am giving demonstrations on creating a horse sculpture in clay and needed to have sculpture artwork to give to the organization that I giving demonstration for. So since I cannot donate my bronzes and the plasticene clay I use is not permanent, I started to make small portraits of horses. I am enjoying doing these as they can be finished in a short time then dried so they can be fired. I use dyes, paint, and sealer for them. This is one of them.
I hope you enjoy viewing my art. Please leave comments for me.

New Sculpture

Hello! I have not been here lately. The 'bug' caught me and I have been out of commission for a while. Now I am back with a different sculpture. This one is not of a horse this time. I am also a welder and have been welding industrial steel for a long time. So I decided to combine the 2 materials that I like to work with - industrial steel and bronze. Plumbing pipe. was used. This was a fun sculpture to do.

Horses

Wow it has been a while since I have posted any messages. Time has passes quickly when I have been busy. I have been working on some little clay horse portraits. They have been fun to do. When I work in Terra Cotta I work very loosely, so it's a good exercise for me.

I have just started to get ready for a demonstration I will be giving in Leisure World in March. I am going to show the Ceramic and Sculpture Studio group how to make the armature, and 3 stages of progress of my horse sculptures. I will show them the very beginning to the bronze finish. I am posting the image of my one bronze horse. This horse is available at Showcase Gallery or by contacting the artist.

I will take pictures of my clay ones for the next post.

SWEET MEMORY

She was my friend and companion
Always there for me
It is hard to lose a part of your life
But it was time to go.
Illness took her from us.
She was with us for 21 years.
She didn’t look or act like an old lady defying her 29 years.
Ambrosia, my friend you will always be with me.

Hello! I am Marilee and I am an artist. I do sculplture, plein air paintings, horse paintings, and portraits. I right now I am working on a series of horse paintings. After my Morgan mare died, I started to do the series starting with her portratit as part of the grieving process.
I also wrote the poem for the painting. The painting is not for sale, but I do accept commissions.

I plan on putting a different art work on my blog each time. I hope you will enjoy seeing my work and might want to buy one to add it to your collection or start a collection. See my website for more work.
